| I've been going to Deauville since I was a kid. My family used to gather here for long week-ends or holidays along the year; grand-parents, aunts and oncles, cousins... Sometimes we would go to hotels, sometimes we would rent apartments or houses in Deauville or Trouville. Memories are from all seasons, learning to swim in the big sea-water pool, collecting the snails at low tide in the sand of the wide beach, walking on the famous boardwalk Les Planches, meeting at le Bar du Soleil, riding poneys or horses, fighting at mini-golf or tennis, shopping at the Trouville's fish market.. Sometimes, my grand-father took all of us in his big DS for a picnic in the country or in an gastronomic auberge of Pays d'Auge. We'd take a nap on a plaid under the trees or go apples picking. He loved to shop antics in the deep country around Honfleur, Caen, or Lisieux, and buy at the farm. When it was raining, we'd go to the circus or play creative games. Teenager, it was great biking here & there with friends, go to discos, beach-shows, concerts, or visit Normandy historical sites. But it'd be too long to tell... Today, far from the clichés, Deauville is still a magic resort, in any seasons, with its beautiful light the impresionnist loved to paint and its architecture, its long and wide beach, its ports, sports facilities, pool and thalasso center, its casino, its golfs, horse races, polo competitions and international events, like the American Film Festival. I still love this place, in any seasons, by myself, in couple, with friends or kids, & would be happy to share it with you if you come here. | |
